Bio:
I began my college life at Vanderbilt University in the fall of 1963. I really didn't know where this would take me, career-wise. After graduating with a BA in Business in 1967 and then 3 years of law school (UT Law School), I reverted back to my real calling -- a business career in investments.
Following my grandfather, uncle, and father, I began my career with Merrill Lynch in Atlanta and then later moved to Chattanooga to help open the Merrill Lynch office there a few years later. I eventually moved back to Nashville in 1982 and began what has turned out to be a 20+ year tenure with Bank of America. I have formed a team with 2 other financial advisers to manage money for our Private Bank clients, mostly in Tennessee, but also in 6 other southern states. This has allowed me over the years to travel more extensively and to mix some business with pleasure.
Eleven years ago I married Cassie Winsett. Although Cassie is from here in Nashville and we had known a lot of the same people through the years, we had never met until '93. We married the next year. Her family founded the Houston's Restaurants company and we spend a lot of time with her family. We don't have children, but that has allowed us to spend more time traveling, which we enjoy.
My mother passed away when I was at Vandy, and five years later my father married Margaret Leonard of David Lipscomb fame. Margaret passed away last year, but I'm sure many of my Lipscomb classmates know of her contributions to all the campus schools for over 60 years. Margaret was a true "Lipscomb Legend" and a real blessing to our family. My father passed away a few years ago, but had the pleasure of being married to 2 wonderful Christian women each for 30 years, which has to be some kind of record.
I look forward to visiting with everyone in a couple of weeks and re-living those great days at Lipscomb. It ought to be a lot of fun.
